Heinfels is situated in East Tyrol and is best reached by car.
Coming from Germany or Italy the A22 Brenner motorway is the most convenient way of approach. Exit the motorway at Brixen/Bressanone. The route leads via the SS49 national road in Italy through the Pustertal/Val Pusteria valley, over the Austrian border and then onto the B100 road to East Tyrol. The plant is found at the far end of Heinfels on the right-hand side of the road.
If you are coming from the east, take the Austrian motorway Südautobahn Klagenfurt. The route will take you past Klagenfurt. Exit the Südautobahn at Spittal. Continue on the major road past Lienz and into the Pustertal/Val Pusteria valley. The plant is found before entering Heinfels on the left-hand side of the major road.
